Serving Lexington through PR

Nancy talked to my event planning class at UK in the fall and she nailed it. I took notes from her presentation because I could tell it was worth recording, not the other speakers before her. Only Nancy.
I raised my hand at the end of class and asked if she was hiring. She wasn’t but I emailed her afterwards anyway. I told her I would be graduating in December and was interested in just about anything. A couple of months later, I received an email from her asking if I would be interested in doing administrative work for a month tops.
“Of course!!!” I replied. “It would be an honor.”
I was hired to organize contact lists. It was a little overwhelming at first because Nancy knows a lot of people. And then you add all the people Katie knows too. And then you take all their loose business cards they haven’t had time to look through and suddenly the list becomes scary.
After a month, I finished the task. However, I was not finished at Wiser Strategies. Both Nancy and Katie found other tasks to somehow keep me working alongside them. Thank goodness.
About the WS Team
While there are several people on the Wiser Strategies team, I mainly worked with Katie and Nancy in the office. They were both influential in making my time at Wiser Strategies unforgettable.
For only being 5 years older than me, Katie has a lot of wisdom to give. Katie has this outstanding ability to talk with any person, anywhere and just about anything. She is approachable, sweet and friendly. Katie is smart too. She finds these connections or ideas for projects that leave you astounded – but also frustrated. “Why didn’t I think of that?”
Nancy is one of the most passionate human beings I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. So passionate that in just a few short years, she’s created a well established Public Relations Firm in Lexington that continues to make waves. Her dedication to her clients is portrayed through her work – well researched, detailed and creative. Her ideas are original but fueled from multiple cups of strong coffee each morning. I know Wiser Strategies has a bright future because of the determined and guided leadership from Nancy Wiser, coffee cup in hand.
Lessons
I learned about new software and then explained those findings to the team. I grew tremendously in Photoshop and also learned about GoogleAds. While all of these are great, the more important lessons were from observing Nancy and Katie and how they hold themselves in the Public Relations field. From Katie, it was how to look at the big picture, the objective, the goal. From Nancy, it was how to connect with your work, your surroundings and most importantly, people.
Gratitude
I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work alongside two devoted professionals at Wiser Strategies these past 5 months. They have individually and collaboratively taught me what the word “driven” looks like. Although my physical time at Wiser Strategies has come to an end, they will be tucked in my future some way, somehow. A ‘thank you’ falls short for this opportunity that landed before me but is necessary to portray the amount of gratitude I feel towards these women and the lessons I have learned. So with that being said, thank you.
