November 24, 2014
‘Tis the season for your B2B or your B2C companies to thrive. Do you have a Pinterest page? This is the perfect time of year to get one! Pinterest is a great way to post anything holiday-related. To ensure each of your followers and friends sees what you are posting on Pinterest, you can post a link to each of your social media pages.
Why Pinterest?
Here are a few convincing statistics from JP Enterprises:
- Pinterest’s conversion rates are 50% higher than conversion rates from other traffic. So, Pinterest drives more traffic to your website than other referral sites.
- 64.8% of shoppers use social media to find gifts and 47% of U.S. consumers have bought something based on recommendations they found on Pinterest.
- 80% of pins are repinned.
Where Do You Start?
Images are the best way to start your Pinterest page. Because every company that wants to get traffic to their website is using Pinterest, you will have a lot of competition when it comes to photography. Take clear and vibrant pictures. You can take pictures of your employees at work, anything holiday-related, or just something else you can think of that would be visually appealing for potential consumers to look at.
When you post images on Pinterest, make sure each picture has a “Pin It Button” for easy sharing purposes. Make sure you are using pins to your advantage. Don’t upload your images directly to Pinterest. Pin them from your website so people who are interested can be taken directly to your website when they click on the image.
When you post on Pinterest, make sure you use hashtags. For example, if you are providing tips about financial related information, you could use #financials or #money. Think of how you would search the services that you offer and that will give you a better idea of how to properly utilize hashtags. Make sure not to go overboard. The last thing that pinners want to see is an image with nothing but a ton of hashtags!
Have more than one board. Pinterest gives you the option to create different boards with different topics. For example, one could be “Our Favorite Holiday Recipes” You could also make another board that is a “Christmas Wish List.” If there is anything related to the services you offer that you would like potential consumers to know, make a board about that. You can make a “How To” board or have a “Tips” page.
Pinterest also gives you the option to create group boards. If you partner with another company, you can add them as a pinner on your board so you can share both of the services and/or products you offer. A new feature of Pinterest is creating Map Boards. An example of a map board is “Things to Do In Lexington”. Not only will you have a board of things to do in Lexington, but there will also be a map to the side so anybody looking at this board will be able to see the exact location of what you are talking about!
Keep in mind that you can also post other Pinners’ content on your page. Most people are on Pinterest for inspiration and variety. Going to other pages that are similar to the services you offer will help you start your page. Make sure the information you are pinning is relevant to your industry. Always think about what your potential consumers or current clients might want to see. You might even be able to introduce them to a new product or idea that they have never heard of.
Want to track your activity on Pinterest? You can do this through Pinterest Analytics. It will let you check your repins and find out which pins get shared the most. You can also export all this information into a file of your own so you can keep records of what is happening every week/month/etc. on your Pinterest page.
