Public Relations Services
Emily is a strong, driven, independent woman who is doing what she loves – writing. She hails from Middlesboro, the most southeastern point in Kentucky. Each step in her career is leading her to her ultimate goal, to be a world-renowned journalist. And just like Confucius said, “It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop,” Emily will not stop until she reaches that ultimate goal.
What drove your decision to get into this business?
Originally I wanted to be the next Katie Couric. I even knew that her contract with Today would be up when I graduated college. However, college classes helped me realize I’d rather be working behind the scenes. I love talking to and interviewing people and gaining their trust to truthfully tell their story. I’m also driven to inform people about what is happening around them.
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud that I am doing what I have always wanted to do. Being a journalist has been my dream for over ten years, and give or take a year, I have been actively writing and living my dream ever since then.
What is your approach for ensuring exceptional client service?
Communication. It is key to keeping an open line of communication with the client. It is the only way to know what they want and if they are happy with the work we are doing for them.
Who is your most admired storyteller and why?
Katie Couric is still my most admired storyteller. She has always had the ability to deliver any type of news, be it silly, happy, uplifting, forlorn, or devastating with the tone it deserves. Even as a public figure she has found a way to share parts of her life with her viewers and make them feel as if they know her. She continues to deal with hardships in her life, be it personal or professional, with an air of grace and humility.
What one thing about your childhood most influences who you are as a professional?
My parents have always been my biggest influences. They raised me to be kind, patient, respectful and to work hard. After working a hard 9 to 5 job for his entire adult life, my father got his dream job in his early 50’s. I learned from him that while not all dreams may immediately be reached, you should never give up on them. My mother has instilled in me a strong personality, and they have both allowed me to be an independent person.
When you’re not working, what do you do for fun?
I watch movies or TV, listen to podcasts, read, or spend time with my family and friends. I’m also a huge fan of watching any NFL team play, though I prefer to watch the Green Bay Packers. This has led to my newest obsession, Fantasy Football. I also live for UK football and basketball. Go Big Blue! Though my biggest vice would probably be fashion, especially the latest Vogue.
